This one-day training covers the usual first aid topics and adds a boating perspective. Required for Yachtmasters and racing sailors, useful for anyone. Valid for Fastnet, Sydney-Hobart and most races. We also offer an upgrade for Category 0 races such as the Ocean Race. 

Valid for:

  • Yachtmaster: 3 years
  • ISAF / World Sailing Senior First Aid (OSR 4.08.4): 5 year. (the certificate mentions: valid for 3 years)
  • RORC: 3 year
  • Health and Safety First Aid regulations, 1981, for Emergency First Aid at work.
  • For category 0 races (Ocean Race etc) : not an RYA recognised course. 

The subjects specific to boating include:

  • the recovery position in a confined space
  • CPR, including the drowning protocol
  • cold shock and hypothermia from immersion and/or exposure
  • seasickness and dehydration
  • medical assistance or advice by VHF
  • helicopter rescue

  • One day, 09:30 till 17:30
  • Maximum number of participants 12 per instructor. 
    During Covid the number of participants is limited to 8, due to the available number of mannequins
  • RYA First Aid manual and certificate included
  • Training is delivered in English
